We talked about the inportance of internships in the music business, using social media to break artists and develop relationships with fans, direct-to-fan marketing, and tips for self-releasing music. We talked about how Young was discovered and heard his music, including a live, in-studio performance as well as the unreleased demo that started it all.

In the Studio... The McCrary Sisters

Regina and Ann of The McCrary SIsters were in the Music Business Radio studios today to talk about their debut album, "Our Journey," and share stories of working with top names in country, pop, and gospel genres as one of Music Row's most in-demand vocal groups.

The sisters have recorded with numerous acts over their long career including Buddy Miller, Patty Griffin, Stevie Wonder, Johnny Cash, Charlie Louvin, Wynonna Judd, Dr. John and Dan Auerbach, Bob Dylan, and Elvis Presley.

We talked about growing up in the house of a famous musician, Rev. Sam McCrary of The Fairfield Four, having Bob Dylan over for family dinner, starting in the music business at age three, touring with 150+ people on a 46-person bus, singing with Johnny Cash at Madison Square Garden, and more.

Steve Winwood was a key member of The Spencer Davis Group, Traffic, Blind Faith, and Go. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Traffic in 2004.

In 2005, Winwood was honored as a BMI Icon at the annual BMI London Awards for his "enduring influence on generations of music makers."

In 2008, Rolling Stone magazine ranked Winwood #33 in its 100 Greatest Singers of All Time.

Winwood has won numerous Grammy Awards in the United States, including Record of the Year and Best Male Pop Vocal Performance for his solo album, Back in the High Life.
