International record executive and artist manager, Evert Wilbrink, is next on Music Business Radio.
Evert is the former Promotions and A&R manager at BMG International, served in international marketing capacities for Island and Virgin Records and served as president of the New York-based King Biscuit Flower Hour Records.
Evert got his first job in the music business at 16, writing press releases for acts like Bob Dylan and the Birds. Today, his company, Corazong Records, based in the Netherlands with US offices in Nashville, includes the highly respected blues recordings of Labor Records as well as albums by Willie Nelson, Dee Dee Ramone, Rick Danko, the Flying Burrito Brothers, Flaco Jimenez, and Maria Jimenez. The label focuses on real musicians who playing real music from the heart on real instruments. Hence the name CoraZong, which combines the Spanish word for Heart Corazon with the English word Song.
And as one can imagine, Evert had lots of stories to tell as he has worked with an amazing number of legendary artists including Joan Jett, Eddy Grant, the Kinks, Frank Zappa & The Mothers of Invention, Tim Buckley, Fleetwood Mac, Neil Young, The Doors, Randy Newman, Ry Cooder, Bob Marley, and Van Morrison.
