In the Studio... Tracy Gershon

Tracy Gershon, VP of A&R at Warner Brothers Records stopped in today.  She’s worked with artists such as Faith Hill and Blake Shelton and has signed number of well known artists including The Mavericks. Carlene Carter, James House, and Buddy Jewell.  If you watched the first two seasons on Nashville Star, you'll remember Tracy.

We talked about how she got her start in the business, what she's discovered by going through the "reject pile," what gets her attention, and why she signs acts...and why she doesn't.

David Gans was in the studio today.  He started his career as a songwriter, went on to be a writer for MIX Magazine, BAM, and Record, and got involved with the Grateful Dead as a biographer, producer, and host of the nationally syndicated radio show, the Grateful Dead Hour.

David talked about the art of songwriting, why the Grateful Dead has been successful, music merchandising, and a lot more.
