I'll be in Atlanta from today until Sunday for the Atlantis Music Conference. Will have recording equipment in tow to get content for a new show, so look me up, give me something good, and we may be able to get you some air time.
You can catch me:
Thursday, August 11
10:45am – 11:45am
Interactive Music Technology Forum Panel (IMTF)
Friday, August 12
12:00pm - 1:30pm
iPanel: Extreme Makeover Web Site Edition
Still working on licensing issues, so I can't put up the entire show, but this is a section that will be of interest to indie musicians...
In the section, we play 90 seconds of music from demo packages we've received and then review it. This is done live, without anybody having heard the music beforehand, so it's a good indication of what happens when you send in an unsolicited demo.
Dez Dickerson was in the Music Business Radio studios this week to talk about his time as lead guitarist and musical director for Prince, his A&R work since, and various other aspects of his career including production, songwriting, and artist development. Dez has been in the business for 30+ years and had a lot of great stories to tell, including the how Prince came up with the phone number 777-9311 for the Time song of the same name.
Rather than give you the play-by-play, I'd rather you just listen to the show yourself...
Due to licensing issues, this one isn't ready to be put online yet, but should be within the next few days.
WANT TO HEAR THE SHOW? Click on one of these syndication links, depending on which service you use for your homepage, and you'll get it as soon as it's uploaded.
We're in the process of lining up syndication right now, so if you're interested in having this show in your market, I need to know. I've got a company who is handling the big stations, but I'm looking for the community stations, college stations, and low-power stations that they might be (and probably are) neglecting.
If you have a station playing a "local scene" show in your market, those are the kind of station we need to talk to. And if you've got a DJ in town that really supports local music, that's the kind of person we need to talk to.
Let me know the call letters, a phone number, and anything else you can about possible stations or people who might be interested in this show.
By the way, we're also going to be hitting you guys up to send in some music for us to play on the air. To make sure you don't miss the message, make sure you subscribe to one of our feeds.
